FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR ATLANTA SELLERS
GEORGIA & OTHER BUSINESS SELLERS
What Kinds of Businesses do
you Represent? The businesses vary from dry cleaners, coin laundries,
restaurants, convenience stores, car washes, medical imaging facilities,
buckhead bakeries, florists, garages and every thing in between.
The common thread with the businesses we represent is that they are all
located within the state of Georgia.
How can I become a client?
To
become a client, contact us and we will collect some information about
you, your business and your needs; we will answer any questions you have
about becoming a client.
How do you work with business
sellers? We work very closely with our sellers as a partnership.
In a partnership, each of us has responsibilities and a common goal of
selling the business. We'll provide advice and guidance every step
of the way. We want our clients to be satisfied with our work so
we can sell other businesses for them and be referred to other sellers
by our client's excellent experience with us.
I don't live in Georgia.
Will you sell my business? We sell businesses that are in the
state of Georgia and a number of other states depending on their particular
requirements. If we are not permitted to sell within your state we
may be able to refer you to a business broker where your business is located.
What do you do for clients?
We provide direction and assistance in every phase of selling their business.
In addition, we advertise the business, screen buyers, value the business
from the buyer's perspective, assist the buyer's with financing, assist
with negotiations, present qualified buyers, help to make it a smooth transition
after the sale for both the buyer and the seller, provide confidentiality
agreements, work with accountants and attorneys to resolve issues and we
contact buyers who we have had previous contact with who might be interested
in purchasing the business.
To sell a business in Georgia
do you only advertise the business in Georgia? Not at all.
We've found that perhaps there is a person in New England or Chicago who
says "I am tired of these long cold winters, I want to live in a warmer
climate." They then sell their existing business or leave their job
in Boston & Detroit and begin looking for a business in the area they
want to live. We advertise around the country so we can try to catch
that person before they come to Georgia. They will likely buy a business
and live nearby the business they have purchased. When they come
to Georgia, the second thing they do is purchase a house but the first
thing they do is purchase a business and then purchase a house near it.
How long will it take to sell
my business? That is one of the most common questions asked
and rightly so. It is hard to say as much depends on how financially
solid the business is, the location, the price, the popularity of the business,
the season, the accuracy of the information concerning the business and
how responsive the seller is to questions made to the broker.
Do most sellers overprice
or underprice their businesses? Our
experience has been many underprice them, about the same amount overprice
them and a few price it correctly.
I've thought about selling my
business myself, what do you think? It
is certainly possible but it isn't easy. Selling a business can be
an unpleasant, distressing and formidable process. Buyer's have a
variety of requirements and they may call day, night, on the weekend or
on a holiday to get their questions answered. They want to understand
the process of buying a business which the seller may not totally understand.
With every business owner, you have sacrificed, risked and survived and
not everyone is sensitive to your needs. In addition, you have special
skills and expertise that were developed over a period of time that you
know facilitates success in your type of business. We have comprehensive,
well developed, mature business practices that assist us in successfully
selling your business and making the process as smooth as possible for
all concerned.
